Vidisha: Rape victim set on fire, critical

Vidisha, Nov 29: The condition of a rape victim, who was set ablaze by her tormentor when she resisted a molestation attempt two days ago, has detoriorated. The 33-year old woman from Vidisha is being treated at Bhopal's Hamidia Hospital and is now on ventilator after she underwent a cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure. She had sustained 80 percent burn injuries on the Wednesday's attack.

The woman alleged that the accused dragged her into a house and tried to pin her down after she objected to his lewd gestures. Family sources and eyewitnesses said that the accused poured kerosene on her and set her on fire in Ganj Basoda area of Vidisha.

A Vidisha court, meanwhile, sent accused Roop Singh Thakur to judicial custody.
