Video Of Karnataka Villagers' Refusing To Pay Electricity Bill Goes Viral
A video capturing a group of villagers in this district has recently gone viral, allegedly showing their refusal to pay their electricity bills. Their reason for non-payment stems from the pre-election promise made by the Congress party, guaranteeing 200 units of free power per month to every household.

During the campaigning for the Karnataka Assembly elections held on May 10, the Congress party repeatedly emphasized that these guarantees would be approved in their first cabinet meeting upon assuming power in the state.
In the video, villagers can be seen seated on a platform beneath a peepal tree, engaging with electricity bill collector Gopi. One villager asserts,''We won't pay, to which the bill collector responds, urging them to pay the bill this month and wait for the government's decision.'' The villagers express skepticism, questioning what the government can say. Gopi explains that if the government indeed declares free power, the electricity department will comply.
Another villager firmly declares, "We will not pay. They (Congress) have promised electricity is free, and it should remain so."
In response, the bill collector mentions that if the government issues an order, electricity will be made free. The villager suggests that the bill collector should collect payment from the Congress instead of them, emphasizing their refusal to pay and urging others present to follow suit.
This video exemplifies the villagers' expectations and demands based on the Congress party's pre-election promises, highlighting their refusal to pay until the promised free power is implemented.
