Veteran Malayalam actor Mamukkoya passes away at 77
Veteran Malayalam actor Mamukoya passed away at a hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday. He was 77. He was recently hospitalised following a stroke.

Taking to micro-blogging platform Twitter, trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai wrote,''#Mamukkoya (77), one of the finest comedy actors ever in Malayalam cinema passed away. Who can forget this Kozhikode man, the epicentre of laughter in so many films? #RIP.''
Following his death, messages poured in on social media from actors and members of the general public expressing grief and conveying their condolences.
Mamukkoya started his career as a theatre artist and later moved to the film industry. He made his acting debut in the Malayalam film 'Kadathukaran' in 1976. Since then, he has acted in over 400 films in Malayalam and a few films in Tamil and Telugu.
Mamukkoya is known for his unique style of dialogue delivery and his ability to bring a comic touch to his characters. Some of his notable performances include his roles in the films 'Perumazhakkalam', 'Katha Parayumbol', 'Oru Maravathoor Kanavu', 'Udayananu Tharam', 'Annan Thambi', 'Mayavi', 'Chotta Mumbai', and 'Salt N' Pepper'.

In recognition of his contributions to the Malayalam film industry, Mamukkoya has received several awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Comedian and the Asianet Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.
