Veteran actress Nanda dies at 75

actress Baby Nanda breathed her last today morning in her apartment in Mumbai. She was 75. Born to Marathi parents on January 8, 1939 in Bombay, Nanda worked with Shashi Kapoor in 8 films.

Her father was also an actor by the name Master Vinayak, and her mother was called Meenaxi. Nanda started her career at a very tender age of 8 when she lost her father. That is when her paternam uncle V Shantaram gave her a break in a successful brother-sister saga Toofan Aur Diya (1956).

Among her close friends were Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Helen and Saira Banu. After the death of Manmohan Desai, with whom she was reportedly engaged on June 18, 1992, she withdrew herself from the limelight. Her last public appearance was with Waheeda Rehman for the screening of Marathi film Natarang in 2010.
