Varanasi: UP ATS curbs terror attack during polls, arrests 2

New Delhi, March 27: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-terror Squad has held 2 alleged Fidayeen terrorists in Gorakhpur who were planning a terror attack in Varanasi during elections.

They were on their way to Ayodhya. In fact, the duo have admitted the plot and have also revealed that they were Pakistanis. The Varanasi elections is a much-awaited one as AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP's Prime Ministrial candidate Narendra Modi would come to face to face.

The suo will be produced in court later in the day. The recent arrests came just days after Delhi Police arrested 4 suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists, planning a terror attack at the Lok Sabha polls. They were arrested in Rajasthan.

Tehseen Akhtar, Indian Mujahideen India head and the mastermind of several terror attacks in India including the Patna and the Bodhgaya blasts was arrested on Tuesday from the Naxalbari area in Darjeeling.
