Varanasi preparations reviewed ahead of PM Narendra Modi visit and women’s conference

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Varanasi for two days and reviewed preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed April 28 programme, including a women’s conference. He instructed officials to finalise venue facilities, cleanliness, parking, drinking water, vendor management and shelters for stray animals. The chief minister also stressed security and route diversion to reduce disruption.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Varanasi on Tuesday for a two-day visit. Adityanath held a review meeting at the Circuit House before Prime Minister Narendra Modis proposed trip. Modi is expected to visit on April 28 and address a womens conference. Adityanath told officials to ensure proper arrangements for the programme.

According to an official statement, Adityanath issued instructions to senior administrative and police officials. Adityanath said preparations for the womens conference must finish on time. Adityanath asked for smooth movement of women at the venue. Adityanath also sought proper parking, drinking water, and other basic facilities.

Adityanath stressed cleanliness standards at the event site and across Varanasi. Adityanath also directed that street dogs and stray animals stay in shelters. Adityanath said street vendors must be managed properly. The statement added that Adityanath wanted every part of the city ready ahead of April 28.

The statement said Adityanath placed special focus on strong security for the programme. Adityanath told officials to plan route diversions in advance. Adityanath said route changes should not trouble the general public. The meeting reviewed how police and civil teams would coordinate during the proposed visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit and project updates in Varanasi

During the review, Divisional Commissioner S Rajalingam shared a presentation on projects. The briefing covered works to be inaugurated and those for foundation stone laying. The details related to the prime ministers proposed programme. Officials discussed timelines and readiness for each item listed in the presentation.

Adityanath reviewed progress of the ropeway project and asked teams to speed up work. Adityanath also directed quick construction of the international cricket stadium in Ganjari. The statement said the work should proceed on a war footing. S Rajalingam said the stadium work would finish by the first week of July.

Adityanath also reviewed road widening plans at Manikarnika Ghat and Daalmandi. Adityanath asked officials to accelerate the work and meet deadlines. Adityanath said the work must maintain quality standards. The directions were part of the wider review linked to Modi’s proposed Varanasi visit.
