Vande Bharat Sleeper Train To Begin Testing Soon: Coach Features, Speed And Prototype Design Unveiled
The first prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach has arrived in India and was recently unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at BEML's Bengaluru facility.
According to PTI, the new sleeper coach will undergo a 10-day test run before proceeding to further track testing. If these tests yield satisfactory results, the coach is expected to be operational for the public within the next three months.

How the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Stacks Up
The Vande Bharat sleeper coach is reported to be superior to existing models like the Rajdhani Express. It promises a seamless and comfortable long-distance travel experience, featuring quicker acceleration and deceleration. The train is expected to average speeds of 160 kmph during regular operation, with testing speeds reaching up to 180 kmph.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train will include several types of coaches:
- 4 AC 2-Tier Coaches with 188 berths
- 11 AC 3-Tier Coaches with 611 berths
- 1 AC First Class Coach with 24 berths
