Prime Minister Modi Flags Off Uttarakhand's First Vande Bharat Express Train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the new Vande Bharat Express from Dehradun to Delhi on Thursday via video conferencing. With this, Uttarakhand will have its first semi-high-speed train unit.

Like all Vande Bharat Trains, the Delhi (Anand Vihar)-Dehradun Express will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities.

"Uttarakhand's connectivity is all set to get a big boost. At 11 AM today, I will be flagging off the Vande Bharat Express between Delhi and Dehradun. Making the occasion even more special is the feat of 100% electrification of Uttarakhand's rail tracks. Do join the programme," tweeted PM Modi.

The regular service of Delhi-Dehradun semi-high-speed train will begin on 29 May. The Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat train will run on all days of the week, except Wednesdays. The new Vande Bharat Express is expected to cover a distance of 302 km, within a travel time of 4 hours and 45 minutes.

The fare for Vande Bharat Express between Delhi to Dehradun will be Rs 1,065, while an executive chair car ticket will cost Rs 1,890.

The Dehradun-Delhi Vande Bharat Express (22457) will start from Dehradun at 7 am and reach Delhi at 11.45 am.

The Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat train will have stoppages at Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, and Haridwar. Vande Bharat Express is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and consist of eight coaches, offering comfortable travel options for passengers.

The train will improve the connectivity to major tourist destinations in Uttarakhand, Meerut, Haridwar, among other places that draw visitors in bulk around the year. It also provides boost to socio-economic development in the region.
