Uttarakhand: Tempo Traveller Plunges Into Gorge On Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway, Kills 8

Uttrakhand Accident News: In Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag, a tragic accident occurred on Saturday where a tempo traveller, carrying more than 23 people, reportedly fell into a deep gorge on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway.

According to State Disaster Response Force commandant Manikant Mishra, around eight people were killed, and 15 others were injured in the incident., as per Hindustan Times report.

Uttrakhand Accident Receives Quick Response

The number of casualties is expected to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition. Manikant Mishra stated that it was initially unclear how many people were onboard the tempo traveller. Rescue operations are being conducted by SDRF and police teams, as reported by news agency ANI. Two injured individuals have been transported to a hospital in an ambulance dispatched by the teams.

Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote in Hindi, "I pray to God to grant the souls of the departed a place in his feet and provide strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense pain. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured,".

According to IG Garhwal, Karan Singh Nagnyal, the spot is being attended by the Rudraprayag SP. It has been reported that a tempo traveller, which was traveling from Noida (UP) towards Rudraprayag, has fallen into a gorge that is 150-200 meters deep. 7 bodies have been recovered so far, as reported by ANI.

9 people were taken to the hospital, during which 1 of them passed away. The driver is critically injured. It is unclear how many people were onboard the vehicle. Rescue operations are being carried out by police, SDRF, and local people, and the rescue operation is still underway.
