The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) has unveiled its complete list of candidates for the upcoming Uttarakhand Municipal Elections 2024-25, covering all 11 mayoral seats.

The party shared this announcement in two phases, finalizing a strong lineup aimed at reinforcing its dominance in the urban local bodies of the state.

• Nomination Dates: December 27-30, 2024
• Withdrawal Deadline: January 2, 2025
• Voting Day: January 23, 2025
• Vote Counting: January 25, 2025

The elections will cover 11 Municipal Corporations, 43 Municipal Councils, and 46 Nagar Panchayats, with over 30.8 lakh voters participating, including 14.9 lakh women and 15.8 lakh men.

Significance of the Election

State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar outlined the scale of this election:

• Nagars Nigams (Municipal Corporations): Over 19.5 lakh voters to elect 11 mayors and 540 corporators.
• Nagar Palikas (Municipal Councils): Around 8 lakh voters to choose 43 chairpersons and 344 members.
• Nagar Panchayats: Approximately 3 lakh voters to elect 46 chairpersons and 298 members.
