Owing to widespread rainfall, the annual Badrinath and Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage in Uttarakhand has been affected. Landslides caused by heavy rains have blocked the routes of annual pilgrimage.

Roads have been blocked at a number of places in the hills and the inundation of low lying areas in the plains. The Badrinath highway has been shut at the Lambagad area in Chamoli district. Char Dham Yatra pilgrims, transporters and people, in general, are advised to be vigilant and co-operate closely with the administration during the period.

Meanwhile, the water level in Nayar River on the rise after heavy, incessant rainfall in Satpuli. The Ganga river is in spate and so are many other rivers in the state.

On Auguat 2, heavy rain alert had been been issued for Kumaon and Garhwal regions for the next 48 hours, warning of possible landslides and traffic blockades in the hills and inundation in low-lying areas.
