Uttarakhand Police Files Two FIRs Amid New Allegations in Ankita Bhandari Murder Case

The Uttarakhand Police has filed two FIRs related to fresh allegations in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Authorities are seeking public assistance for evidence while ensuring a thorough investigation.

The Uttarakhand Police have initiated two FIRs following allegations in a social media video linked to the 2022 Ankita Bhandari murder case. Additional Director General of Police Law and Order, Dr. V Murugesan, stated that legal action will be taken based on the investigation's findings. He urged the public to provide any evidence related to the murder.

Dr. Murugesan described the murder of the receptionist as a highly unfortunate and sensitive matter. After the incident, the state government quickly formed a Special Investigation Team led by a female IPS officer. This team swiftly arrested all suspects and ensured they remained in custody without bail.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

During the investigation and subsequent trial, petitions were submitted to both the high court and the Supreme Court. These petitions sought to transfer the case's investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, both courts found the SIT's investigation fair, transparent, and lawful, rejecting these requests.

The lower court ultimately sentenced all three accused individuals to life imprisonment. The recent FIRs are connected to a viral video featuring Urmila Sanawar, who is reportedly married to former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, along with an audio recording of her alleged conversation with Rathore.

Political Implications and Allegations

In her video, Sanawar claimed that a person named Gattu is the same VIP involved in Ankita's murder case. Another video by Sanawar disclosed Gattu's identity, sparking accusations and counter-accusations within Uttarakhand's political landscape.

The police are investigating these new allegations thoroughly. Dr. Murugesan assured that any emerging facts would lead to appropriate legal actions. The police remain committed to ensuring justice for Ankita Bhandari.

This case has drawn significant attention due to its sensitive nature and political implications. The authorities continue to work diligently to uncover all aspects of this complex situation.
