Uttarakhand crisis: HC dismisses plea of 9 Congress MLAs, rebels approach SC

Dehradun, May 9: A breather has come for Harish Rawat who is set to face floor test tomorrow as the Nainital High Court on Monday dismissed the plea of nine disqualified Congress MLAs.

The nine Congress MLAs challenged their disqualification by speaker by Assembly speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal in March this year.

HC dismisses plea of 9 rebel Cong MLAs

They were disqualified by Speaker after the rebel Congress MLAs joined hands with the BJP during proceedings on the Appropriation Bill on March 18.

After the court verdict these rebels will not be able to participate in the floor test in the Uttarakhand Assembly tomorrow.

The court's decision has brought cheers on faces of those who have been supporting Harish Rawat.

However, the MLAs have now approached the Supreme Court for urgent hearing against high court's decision dismissing their plea which challenged their disqualification.

Supreme Court is likely to hear their plea at 2 pm.
