Development is Key, Not 'Hindu-Muslim' Politics, Says Uttarakhand CM Dhami
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently highlighted that for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), development remains the paramount issue in the ongoing Lok Sabha election. He refuted claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was engaging in divisive politics, stating that the Prime Minister was merely responding to the opposition's provocations regarding personal law and Muslim reservations. In a conversation with -Bhasha, Dhami expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing 400 seats, attributing this optimism to the visible work accomplished under the Prime Minister's leadership.

Dhami addressed questions on the BJP's focus on Hindu-Muslim discourse, clarifying that while development is their main agenda, it is also essential to counter misinformation spread by opposition parties. He criticized the Congress party's manifesto for promoting appeasement and contrasted it with the BJP's commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code. The Chief Minister accused opposition parties of neglecting national unity and indulging in politics of appeasement.
In his campaign efforts across Delhi, Dhami claimed a sweeping victory for the BJP, both in Uttarakhand and the national capital, citing widespread support for Modi's leadership. He also took a jab at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of surpassing Congress in terms of corruption and criticizing his handling of allegations against AAP MP Swati Maliwal as indicative of an anti-women stance.
Furthermore, Dhami addressed recent controversies surrounding forest fires in Uttarakhand and challenges during the Chardham Yatra. He suggested that these issues were exaggerated by certain media sections, assuring that measures were being taken to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience despite initial registration hiccups.
The Chief Minister's statements reflect a broader strategy by the BJP to focus on developmental achievements while also navigating the complex socio-political landscape shaped by opposition parties' narratives. As Uttarakhand and Delhi prepare for elections, Dhami's remarks underscore the BJP's confidence in their governance record and their critique of opposition strategies.
