Uttarakhand News: Massive Public Turnout in Champawat Reflects Trust in CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Development Vision

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's Champawat tour drew large crowds at multiple events, signalling robust public backing for his 'faith and development' vision. The itinerary included Maa Purnagiri Dham fair and progress updates on the Sharda Corridor and Goljyu Corridor, plus ISBT Tanakpur and women's sports facilities, underlining a broad infrastructure and cultural development agenda.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s recent visit to Champawat witnessed an overwhelming public response, with massive gatherings at multiple events signaling strong public support for his leadership and development agenda.

The visit was marked not just by official engagements, but by a visible show of faith and confidence from the people in Dhami’s vision of taking forward "faith and development" together in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.

During his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Maa Purnagiri Dham fair at the Purnagiri Temple. Addressing devotees, he outlined the ongoing and upcoming development works in the temple area. Modernization of parking facilities, drinking water systems, and crowd management infrastructure is being undertaken with a focus on ensuring greater convenience for pilgrims.

Work on the proposed Sharda Corridor is progressing rapidly. The project is expected to give a major boost to spiritual tourism in the region. In its first phase, development works worth ₹179 crore have already commenced.

Under the broader master plan, construction of the Goljyu Corridor, estimated at approximately ₹430 crore, is also moving ahead. The project aims to accelerate comprehensive regional development and enhance tourism infrastructure.

Infrastructure Push in Tanakpur

In Tanakpur, construction of an Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) worth ₹238 crore is underway. Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve transport facilities for local residents and provide better connectivity for tourists.

The Chief Minister also inspected the Women’s Sports College and directed officials to ensure both speed and quality in the construction process. He emphasized that providing world-class sports facilities to young women is a priority and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth empowerment.

Cultural Connect and Political Message

Dhami participated in the Kali Kumaon Holi Rang Mahotsav and interacted with the public during Holi Milan ceremonies. Large crowds at every venue created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and celebration, reflecting visible public backing.

In his address, the Chief Minister criticized the Congress party, stating that his government remains committed to the protection and development of Sanatan culture and religious institutions. He alleged that appeasement and vote-bank politics cannot ensure balanced and sustainable development. Dhami asserted that preserving the original identity and cultural essence of Devbhoomi remains the government’s top priority and that necessary decisions will be taken firmly when required.

Historic Holi Milan in Khatima

The Holi Milan ceremony in Khatima also saw a significant public turnout. Thousands gathered to celebrate Holi with the Chief Minister, creating a festive atmosphere filled with colors, drum beats, and slogans in his support.

Observers described the event as more than a celebration—it symbolized a strong emotional connection and trust between the people and their leadership. The Champawat visit, combining religious engagement, infrastructure announcements, and cultural participation, underscored the Dhami government’s message of advancing development while preserving faith and tradition.
