Uttarakhand: After spending 20 years in prison, man wants to return to jail
The district administration of Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh received an unusual request a few days ago - from a released convict who after spending 20 years in jail wants to return to jail.

According to a report on TOI, the man, 52-year-old Pushkar Dutt Bhatt was sentenced to life imprisonment after killing his wife and child 20 years ago in a fit of rage.
However, while he was in jail, a deadly flash floods in July 2016 killed 21 and had driven out residents. After 20 years, when he returned he couldn't find a single soul. All the houses were empty and it had deserted look. ''Only ghosts and sad memories is all that left,'' ex-convict said quoting TOI.
Bhatt stayed there for 6 months after which he decided to send a petition requesting that he be sent to jail again. He said he couldn't take the "despair and loneliness" any longer. "I tried living all by myself alone among the ruins. But I can't go on," he added.
