UP News: Yogi Government Linking Technical Education with Industries to Make Youth Self-Reliant

Uttar Pradesh aims to transform technical education by aligning curricula with industry needs, expanding AI-based courses, mandating industrial visits, and enhancing placement services to propel the state toward a one trillion-dollar economy.

With the aim of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a one trillion-dollar economy, the Yogi Adityanath government is rapidly working to connect technical education with industries and employment opportunities. The state government wants students graduating from technical institutions to move beyond academic degrees and become self-reliant through practical knowledge, modern technology, and industrial exposure. Various schemes and innovations of the Technical Education Department were reviewed on Tuesday as part of this initiative.

Considering the rapid growth of MSMEs, expressways, defence corridor projects, data centres, and the EV sector in the state, the government is focusing on aligning technical institutions with industry requirements.

During the review meeting, Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel said technical institutions would play a key role in achieving Uttar Pradesh's one trillion-dollar economy target. "Providing practical and employment-oriented education and directly connecting students with industries is the government's priority," he said.

Ashish Patel chaired a review meeting with representatives of Deloitte and departmental officials at his office in the Vidhan Sabha. The meeting reviewed progress related to the placement portal, AI integration, NAAC and NIRF rankings, industrial visits, industry partnerships, and various MoUs.

Special emphasis was laid on making industrial visits and industrial training mandatory for students in technical institutions. The minister said engineering students should not remain limited to theoretical or bookish knowledge. He said civil engineering students should be taken to expressway, tunnel, and dam construction sites, while mechanical and electrical engineering students should receive practical exposure at EV manufacturing units and industrial establishments. A proposal is currently being prepared to make at least two industrial visits mandatory for every student.

Officials informed the meeting that more than 8,000 students have already been onboarded onto the department's placement portal. In addition, a special landing page is being developed in collaboration with Naukri.com for Uttar Pradesh students to provide them with better access to local employment opportunities. The initiative is being seen as an important step toward connecting the youth with private sector and global opportunities.

The Yogi government is also focusing on integrating modern technologies into technical education. During the meeting, discussions were held on expanding AI-based courses. Officials said new technology and AI integration-based courses are being developed in collaboration with institutions including Infosys. The objective is to equip students with skills related to artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and future industrial demands.

NAAC, NIRF, and SIRF rankings were also reviewed during the meeting. Officials stated that special focus is being given to faculty recruitment, quality improvement, and better placement opportunities for students in technical institutions. All RSC and polytechnic institutions have been directed to accelerate preparations for improving rankings and academic standards.

Ashish Patel said that industrial corridors, expressway networks, and investment projects being developed across Uttar Pradesh are creating new employment opportunities for the youth. "In such a scenario, preparing technical education institutions according to industry needs is the need of the hour," he said. He added that the Yogi government's objective is to connect the youth of the state with skills, technology, and employment opportunities and make them self-reliant.
