Mahashivratri saw two religions meet, Muslim donates land for temple

, Feb 28: The Mahashivratri festival yesterday saw two religions meet ceremoniously when one Aklakh Ahmed donated his land for constructing a Mahagouri temple. Known as Abbu in his locality, the samaritan is a resident of Umarpur Neeva.

He not only decided to donate the land for the cause, but also help in collecting funds and bricks for the temple. The foundation laying ceremony was held yesterday in th epresence of a number of people from the nearby villages too.

His admirers say,"He sacrificed his land for construction of Mahagauri mandir and he also extended co-operation in other things."

Sending across a secular message, Ahmed told Amarujala,"We all are servants of God. Then why should we differentiate ourselves on the basis of religion."[Read]
