Uttar Pradesh Creates History on Ummeed Portal, Leads in Online Waqf Property Registration

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh achieved the nation's top position in online Waqf property registration via the Ummeed portal, logging 92,832 properties and demonstrating efficient governance, transparency, and proactive administration across Sunni and Shia Waqf assets.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh hassecured the top position in the country in the digital registration of Waqfproperties. The Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, hadissued an order on June 6, 2025, directing the registration of all Waqfproperties on the 'Ummeed' portal by December 5, 2025.

In compliance with this directive, Uttar Pradesh successfully completed theonline registration of 92,832 Waqf properties, including 86,347 Sunni and6,485 Shia Waqf properties. Although the central government has extended the registration deadline bysix months, Uttar Pradesh achieved the target well ahead of time. Thisaccomplishment reflects the efficient and transparent governance of thestate and marks a significant step towards the protection, proper managementand development of Waqf Board properties.

According to nationwide data available on the Ummeed portal, Uttar Pradeshaccounts for the highest share of digital Waqf property registrations acrossIndia. The proactive approach adopted by the state government, coupled withextensive awareness campaigns and strong administrative support, ensuredtimely completion of registrations by most Mutawallis (managers of Waqfproperties). In total, 92,832 Waqf properties have been registered online in UttarPradesh through the Ummeed portal, reaffirming the state's leading positionin the nationwide exercise.

District-level data from the Ummeed portal shows that Lucknow leads in theregistration of Shia Waqf properties, with 625 properties registered. Amrohafollows in second place with 539 registrations, while Meerut ranks thirdwith 533 registered Shia Waqf properties.

In the category of Sunni Waqf properties, Barabanki topped the list with4,940 registrations, followed by Sitapur in second place and Azamgarh inthird. Districts such as Bijnor, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Meerut and Jaunpuralso emerged as leading contributors in the online registration of SunniWaqf properties.

This achievement underscores the strong leadership and administrativeefficiency of the Uttar Pradesh government. It is expected to enhancetransparency in Waqf property management, curb misuse, and accelerateefforts towards preservation and development of Waqf assets across thestate.
