Uttar Pradesh Launches Mission Shakti-5.0 to Empower Women

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently introduced 'Mission Shakti-5.0' in Lucknow, highlighting the state's progress in women's safety, education, and nutrition since 2017. He spoke about the shift from insecurity to empowerment for women and girls, attributing this change to ongoing government efforts against mafia influences.

The Chief Minister recalled the challenges faced by daughters before 2017 and praised the transformation of Anganwadi centres. He noted improvements in nutrition and community-led operations. "Every girl pursuing higher education now carries a tablet. This is the new change," he stated.

Women's Empowerment Initiatives

CM Yogi emphasised that in 2017, daughters weren't safe, facing threats to their safety and employment. Schools and Anganwadi centres were in poor condition. Today, Anganwadi centres provide hot meals and nutrition through community efforts rather than contractors.

He elaborated on overcoming these challenges through judicial intervention, benefiting women's employment. "But we fought this battle all the way to the Supreme Court and brought it back," he said. Women's volunteer groups now run these programs, advancing employment opportunities.

Mission Shakti's New Phase

The upcoming phase of Mission Shakti will begin with Sharadiya Navratri on September 22, lasting for 30 days. Since its start in 2020, Mission Shakti has significantly strengthened women's security and empowerment across Uttar Pradesh with four successful phases completed.

In a high-level meeting with senior officials, CM Yogi directed that the new campaign should include extensive programs through interdepartmental coordination. He stressed enhancing foot patrolling and ensuring continuous activity of PRV-112 vehicles on roads.

This new chapter aims to deepen outreach and impact further. The Chief Minister's focus remains on ensuring that all initiatives are effectively implemented to continue empowering women throughout the state.
