Uttar Pradesh Bypolls: Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad's Son Ajit Likely To Be SP Candidate From Milkipur

The Samajwadi Party is expected to nominate Ajit Prasad, son of Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad, for the Milkipur constituency in the upcoming Assembly bypolls. This seat became vacant after Awadhesh Prasad's election to the Lok Sabha from Faizabad (Ayodhya). Sources indicate that this decision is part of the party's strategy for the by-elections.

Awadhesh Prasad gained significant attention by winning the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat, defeating BJP's two-time MP Lallu Singh. His victory was a key factor in the Samajwadi Party's performance in Uttar Pradesh, where they secured 37 seats. Their ally, Congress, won six seats, while the BJP obtained 33 seats. Additionally, two seats went to RLD and one to Apna Dal (S).

Akhilesh Yadav convened an important meeting in Lucknow on August 25 to discuss strategies for the Milkipur and Katehari by-elections. These elections are necessary as SP MLAs Awadhesh Prasad and Lalji Verma have been elected as MPs. The meeting reviewed preparations for these crucial seats.

The BJP is also actively campaigning for these ten seats, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally overseeing efforts for Milkipur and Katehari. Although the election dates are yet to be announced, there is speculation that Ajit Prasad might be fielded from Milkipur and Lalji Verma's daughter from Katehari.

Among these ten seats, five were previously won by the Samajwadi Party, three by the BJP, and one each by Rashtriya Lok Dal and Nishad Party, both NDA allies.

Mueed Khan Case Addressed
The meeting also touched upon the Mueed Khan case. Akhilesh Yadav accused the police of deliberately delaying the DNA report to hide the truth. He mentioned discussing this issue with workers in Milkipur.

Ticket claimants like Devmani Kanaujia have approached the SP office today regarding their candidacy. The party is carefully considering its options to ensure a strong performance in these by-elections.
