Uttar Pradesh: 9 killed as van rams parked truck in Lakhimpur Kheri

At least nine people were killed after a vehicle carrying 17 people rammed into a parked truck in Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday. The police sent the bodies to the post-mortem. The incident took place on the National Highway 24 in Uchauliya, Pasgawan police station limits.

The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital in Shahjahanpur, police said.

The driver of the Tata Magic van and the helper are among the nine people killed. The incident took place at around 6 AM. According to the police, driver Anup Awasthi, 25, and his helper Kishan, 23, died on the spot.

Efforts were underway to identify the deceased.
