Uttar Pradesh: 8-year-old killed in crossfire between police and robber
An eight-year-old was killed in a crossfire between the police and a man accused of robbery in Mohanpura in Uttar Pradesh.

The victim, identified as Madhav, a nursery student.The boy was playing with four of his friends in front of his house when the encounter took place.
The Mathura incident occurred around 6 pm when three cops from the highway police station reached Mohanpura after getting information that some criminals involved in a recent case of loot were spotted somewhere there.
Thereafter, a round of firing began, which, by mistake, hit Madhav, who was playing in the vicinity. Unable to cope with this, both the police and the criminal fled the spot immediately.
As soon as the news of Madhav being shot at reached his family, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he ultimately succumbed to his wound.
The UP police have been on an encounter spree despite notices from the National Human Rights Commission. According to the latest figure, 33 criminals have been gunned down and 196 others wounded in 900 encounters across the state since the Yogi Adityanath government took over in March last year. At least 212 policemen have also been injured in the face-offs.
The National Human Right Commission has taken cognizance of the spurt in encounters in UP and has issued multiple notices.
