Ustad Zakir Hussain Is Alive: X User Claims To Be Zakir Hussain’s Nephew, Denies Death Rumour
The music world was recently rocked by news of the passing of tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, sparking widespread mourning and tributes from fans and dignitaries alike. However, in a twist, a social media account purporting to belong to Zakir Hussain's nephew has debunked these reports, asserting that the legendary musician is, in fact, still alive. This account, under the name Ameer Aulia (@AmeerAulia) on X, urged the public and media to refrain from spreading false information and to instead focus prayers on Hussain's recovery. The veracity of these claims and the account's connection to Hussain have yet to be confirmed independently.

The uncertainty around Zakir Hussain's health status has led to a mix of tributes and calls for accurate information. Prominent figures and political leaders have expressed their condolences, highlighting Hussain's unparalleled impact on the music industry.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), along with Union Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, honored Hussain's legacy, underscoring his genius and the indelible mark he left on the world of music. Rathore's tribute on X encapsulates the sentiment of many, stating, "Ustad Zakir Hussain's extraordinary mastery of the tabla has created a timeless legacy in the world of music. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless admirers whose lives he touched with his artistry. His rhythms will echo in our hearts forever."
Amidst the confusion, tributes continue to pour in from across the political spectrum. Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, and UP CM Yogi Adityanath have all shared their respects, each noting Hussain's significant contributions to the arts and the deep void his passing would leave. Minister Nitin Gadkari also lamented the loss, emphasizing its impact on India's cultural heritage.
The dispute over Hussain's condition began with a message from an account claiming to be his nephew's, pleading for corrections to the misinformation about his uncle's demise. "I am Zakir Hussain's nephew, and he has not passed away. We ask for prayers for my uncle's health. Can you please remove this misinformation? He is in a serious condition, and we ask fans worldwide to pray for his recovery," the post read.
Another message reinforced the plea for prayers and well-wishes, highlighting the family's desire for privacy and accurate reporting during this challenging time.
He also tweeted,'' One of our last pictures with my mother and Zakir mamu @ZakirHtabla.''

Another tweet read,''Thank you Sir. No death certificate but the media would like to insensitively send information that my Uncle has passed away. Please show the Great man more respect than this. All the amazing things he did for India, please. #zakirhussain.''
Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain's publicist confirmed to PTI that the legendary tabla maestro is alive but hospitalized. The 73-year-old musician, renowned for bringing the tabla to global prominence, has been admitted to the ICU of a San Francisco hospital due to heart-related issues.
"Zakir is currently in the hospital but alive. I am managing communications for his family and will provide updates on any official statements," family spokesperson Jon Bleicher said in an email to Times Now Digital.
Hussain's manager, Nirmala Bachani, revealed that he has been in the hospital for the past two weeks following concerns about his blood pressure. "He has been admitted to a hospital in San Francisco for a heart-related problem," Bachani said.
Flautist and close friend Rakesh Chaurasia expressed concern over the musician's health. "He is unwell and currently in the ICU. We are all deeply worried about the situation," Chaurasia told PTI.
Created in September 2023, Ameer Aulia's account has become the focal point of this controversy, with only two posts dedicated to dispelling the rumors of Hussain's death. Despite the outpouring of grief, Hussain's family has yet to make an official statement, leaving many awaiting confirmation.
