US supports Modi's goal of having 500 GW from renewable energy sources by 2030

In an exclusive interview to a news agency, US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey R. Pyatt has fully supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for renewable energy. Although he is here for the civil nuclear energy cooperation between the US and India, Pyatt admitted that his country fully endorses the sentiments behind the ambitious project for renewable energy.
He reiterated that the US supports Prime Minister Modi's 'incredibly ambitious' energy transition goal. He was talking about India's commitment to switch to renewable energy to great extent and produce 500 GW of energy from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030. It is PM Modi who has worked tirelessly for International Solar Alliance that works for exploring infinite opportunities in solar energy.

US putting efforts for practical cooperation in civil nuclear energy
India and the US had signed a civil nuclear deal in 2008. Then, the US had admitted that India was an important emerging power on the world stage as it enjoyed a vibrant democracy, a rapidly growing economy and increasing influence in world affairs.
The paper presented to the 'Committee on Foreign Relations United States Senate' read that the Indians came to the US to study in their universities, work in industries and live in the US as citizens. Therefore, the committee had recommended, it was clearly in the interests of the US to develop a strong strategic relationship with India.
Energy security during Ukrainian crisis
Now again the US government is trying to move further and enhance the cooperation in civil nuclear energy. Especially, as the world is facing acute shortage of energy resources like oil, there is a huge need to work for 'energy security'.
In its efforts, the US government sent Pyatt to talk with his Indian interlocutors in Delhi on February 16 and 17. Now what has come from the meeting has been described well by Pyatt himself as he says, "India is a very crucial partner for the US in ensuring global energy security in view of serious disruptions in supplies of fossil fuel resulting from the Ukraine crisis."
India has been facing a huge challenge as its oil bill increased exponentially due to the Ukraine war. Understanding India's compulsion, the US has demonstrated that it does not have any issue with India importing Russian oil.
