United States and India Bolster Collaborations in Quantum Field: A Joint Statement Report

Following a meeting between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the US has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with India in the quantum domain. This includes welcoming Indian institutions into international quantum exchanges.

On Friday, the United States reiterated its commitment to collaborate with India in the field of quantum technology. This bilateral cooperation will also extend through the Quantum Entanglement Exchange platform, designed to foster international exchange opportunities in this sector. The announcement was part of a joint statement issued following a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Joe Biden.

India's Participation in Global Quantum Research

US-India Quantum Collaboration

The US welcomed India's SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata into the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QEDC). The QEDC is an industry-driven group that aims to enable and grow the quantum industry by fostering the development of a robust commercial supply chain, standards and protocols, workforce development, and highlighting use cases and grand challenges across sectors.

In addition to this recognition, it was noted that one of India's premier educational institutions - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has joined hands with Chicago Quantum Exchange as an international partner. This collaboration further strengthens India’s position on the global stage when it comes to advanced technological research.

Biden-Modi Meeting: A Step Towards Stronger Technological Collaboration

The joint statement came after a significant meeting between PM Modi and President Biden in New Delhi. Biden is currently visiting India to attend the G20 Summit scheduled over this weekend. Both leaders expressed their satisfaction over recent developments aimed at deepening scientific cooperation between both nations.

Fostering Scientific Collaborations

The two countries hailed an Implementation Arrangement signed between US National Science Foundation (NSF) and India's Department of Biotechnology which aims at enabling scientific collaborations in biotechnology and bio-manufacturing innovations.

Furthermore, they appreciated NSF’s call for proposals released jointly with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This initiative seeks academic-industrial collaboration in several key areas including semiconductor research, next-generation communication systems, cybersecurity, sustainability and green technologies, and intelligent transportation systems.

These recent developments underline the growing technological partnership between India and the United States. As two of the world's largest democracies with strong scientific capabilities, their cooperation is expected to yield significant advancements in technology that can benefit both countries and potentially have a global impact.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this joint statement reaffirms the commitment of both nations towards fostering a productive relationship in advancing quantum technology research. The inclusion of Indian institutions into international consortia signifies recognition of India’s scientific prowess on an international platform. Through these collaborations and initiatives, both countries are poised to make significant strides in various fields ranging from biotechnology to cybersecurity. This not only strengthens bilateral ties but also contributes positively towards global scientific progress.
