UPSC Aspirant Suicide in Delhi Raises Alarm on Student Wellbeing
Concerns about the living conditions of UPSC aspirants in Delhi's coaching hubs have intensified following the deaths of three youths in Old Rajinder Nagar. Recently, a 26-year-old woman from Maharashtra's Akola was found hanging on July 21 at her PG in Old Rajinder Nagar, police reported on Saturday. A purported suicide note surfaced online, shedding light on her struggles with depression.

In the note, she detailed her battle with depression and urged the government to reduce scams in government exams and create more jobs for the youth. She also called for a reduction in rent for PGs and hostels meant for students. Her family members, however, claimed she was depressed due to harassment by a man, according to police.
Struggles Highlighted in Suicide Note
The victim's friend told media that she had recently mentioned the rising rents of hostels in their conversations. The deceased woman had to vacate her hostel by August 5, her friend added. The three-page suicide note also included a plea to the government to allow euthanasia and requested her parents to donate her organs.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Harsha Vardhana stated that an inquest proceeding was being conducted and further investigation was underway. The woman had been residing in Delhi for the past four years while preparing for civil services exams.
The tragic incident has brought attention to the pressures faced by UPSC aspirants in Delhi, particularly regarding accommodation issues and mental health struggles. The woman's appeal for lower rents and job creation highlights the broader challenges faced by many students in similar situations.
As authorities continue their investigation, the case underscores the need for better support systems for students dealing with academic pressures and mental health issues. The community is urged to address these concerns to prevent further tragedies.
The woman's death has sparked discussions about the need for systemic changes to support students better. Her call for reducing scams in government exams and creating jobs reflects widespread frustrations among young aspirants.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address mental health issues among students and provide them with adequate resources and support. The community must come together to ensure that such tragedies do not recur.
Authorities are expected to take necessary actions based on the findings of the ongoing investigation. The focus remains on understanding the root causes of such incidents and implementing measures to support students' well-being effectively.
The woman's plea for euthanasia and organ donation reflects her deep despair and desire to contribute positively even in death. Her story has resonated with many, prompting calls for immediate action to address student welfare issues comprehensively.
As investigations proceed, it is crucial to remember the human aspect behind these statistics and work towards creating a supportive environment for all students striving for their dreams.
