Updates: Indian youth has immense talent, says PM Narendra Modi at Skill India launch

New Delhi, July 15: On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, July 15 launched the NDA government's much ambitious Skill India initiative at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.

5.45 pm: "We have 65% of the population below 35 years of age, how will they face the challenges if they are not skilled? If they can't face challenges,they themselves will become a challenge for us, India's 1st priority is to generate employment opportunities", PM Modi.

5.40 pm: "Poor don't have high ambitions of buying a bungalow or expensive cars, they just want their children to be self-dependent. We want to work in this direction in a structured & organized way, taking States along, with a new start", Modi.

5.35 pm: "This mission is not limited to skill, we have linked entrepreneurship to it. Parents from middle-class,lower middle-class & poor families ask their children to learn some skill so that they can stand on their feet", says Modi.

5.33 pm: "It's not that skill only brings money in your pocket, it instills you with a sense of confidence, brings a new strength in life. Skill India Mission is not just a prog to fill stomachs,but to instill self confidence in poor families & bring a new energy to nation", says Modi.

5.15 pm: "Do we now treat this surplus manpower as a burden or liability on Indian economy or do we convert it into a resource. Till today there has been no structured approach in this direction", says Jaitley.
