UP: Yogi Govt Spreads Diwali Cheer With ₹1,022 Cr Bonus for 14.82 Lakh State Employees

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has brought festive cheer to lakhs of state employees ahead of Diwali with a major bonus announcement. In a move reflecting the government's commitment to employee welfare and inclusive governance, the Chief Minister approved a ₹1,022 crore Diwali bonus package benefiting nearly 14.82 lakh state government employees.

According to an official statement, each eligible employee will receive a bonus of up to ₹6,908, calculated on the basis of 30 days' emoluments. The decision aims to recognise the dedicated service of government staff and enable them to celebrate the festival of lights with greater joy and financial comfort.

The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that the bonus will apply to employees drawing pay at Level L-12 or with a grade pay of ₹4,800 or below, ensuring that lower and middle-level staff across departments benefit from the festive gesture.

Officials said this move underscores the state government's focus on rewarding diligence and supporting its workforce-key pillars of the "Good Governance" model that Yogi Adityanath's administration has consistently championed.

The announcement from Uttar Pradesh comes at a time when several states are extending festive bonuses to their employees. In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also declared an ad hoc bonus of up to ₹6,774 for about six lakh employees, while Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced a bonus of up to ₹7,000 for nearly 17,000 Class-4 employees, covering those in panchayats, universities, grant-in-aid institutions, and state boards.

By rolling out one of the largest bonus disbursals among Indian states this festive season, Uttar Pradesh has once again demonstrated its proactive approach to employee welfare and its intent to spread happiness across the public sector workforce before Diwali.
