UP top cop vows to build Ram Mandir, CM seeks clarification
Based on reports, UP CM Yogi Adityanath sought explanation from the DG Homeguard for defying service rules.
Uttar Pradesh top cop has courted controversy by pledging to build Ram Mandir at the earliest. The IPS officer was caught on camera taking a vow with other panelists in a function.
CNN news 18 reported that DG Homeguard Surya Kumar Shukla re-ignited the Ram Mandir debate, saying "I pledge to build the Ram temple at the earliest".
However, the officer denied the reports. He said, " There was a seminar in which they want to help in building the Ram Mandir to which I told them the matter is under discussion. Why will I say anything that will disturb the peace of the nation."

The Supreme Court to hear the civil appeals filed by various parties challenging the 2010 Allahabad high court verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute on February 8.
Last year, a bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices Ashok Bhushan and S. A. Najeeb had asked the advocates on record of appeals to sit together and ensure that all the requisite documents are translated, filed and numbered before the apex court registry.
A three-judge bench of the Allahabad high court in a 2:1 majority ruling had ordered that the land be partitioned equally among three parties - the Sunni Waqf Board, Ram-Lalla Deity and the Nirmohi Akhara.
