UP To Get Every 100 Km On Expressways: Yogi Adityanath Approves

In a sweeping push to modernize emergency response across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the creation of compact fire stations every 100 kilometers along the state's expressways. The goal: ensure rescue teams can reach accident sites within the critical "golden hour," when timely intervention can save lives.

The directive came during a high-level review of the Fire and Emergency Services Department, where the Chief Minister unveiled a comprehensive restructuring plan to match the state's surging population, industrial growth, and urban expansion.

Major Expansion of Fire Services

• 1,020 new positions will be added to the department, including 98 gazetted and 922 non-gazetted roles.
• A dedicated accounts cadre will be set up in every district to boost financial transparency.
• The State Fire Training College will receive additional staffing to enhance training and research capabilities.

Specialized Disaster Units Across All Zones: CM Yogi also called for the formation of advanced disaster management units in each of the state's eight zones. These teams will be equipped to handle chemical, biological, and radiological threats, as well as fires in high-rise buildings. Personnel will undergo rigorous training to respond to complex emergencies, marking a shift from traditional firefighting to a full-spectrum disaster response model.

Airport Deployments and Strategic Coverage: Fire service teams have already been stationed at key airports including Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, and Sonbhadra - part of a broader strategy to fortify fire safety infrastructure at high-risk and high-traffic locations.
