UP Teachers Rally for Arrest of Accused in Principal Assault Case

Principals and teachers in Uttar Pradesh have initiated an indefinite protest this Monday at the Hiralaal Barseni Inter College, calling for the arrest of individuals accused of assaulting a principal and several staff members at a private college. The protest, led by members of the UP Pradhanacharya Parishad (UPPP) and UP Shiksha Sangh, underscores the educational community's demand for immediate action against the perpetrators of Saturday's incident.

Teachers Rally for Justice in UP

The incident in question unfolded when Archana Varshney, the female principal of Hiralaal Barseni Inter College, along with her staff, requested some outsiders playing in the assembly ground to vacate the area, leading to the alleged assault. The gravity of the situation has mobilized educators across the state, with Dipak Paliwal, patron of the Aligarh unit of UPPP, emphasizing the severity and rarity of such an attack on a female principal. He warned that protests would escalate across Uttar Pradesh unless the accused were swiftly apprehended.

An FIR has been filed against eight individuals at the Gandhi Park police station in connection with the assault. The charges include rioting, voluntarily causing harm, and intentional insult under sections 147, 323, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code. This legal action follows a complaint lodged by Principal Varshney, who has also been supported by a video circulating on social media platforms that purportedly documents the incident.

Authorities have assured that an investigation is currently underway and that arrests are imminent. The teaching community's stand against this violence highlights a united front in seeking justice for their colleagues and ensuring such incidents are met with prompt legal action.
