UP shocker: Girl who complained of molestation set on fire

Lucknow, Mar 8: It looks like 'goondaism' rules the roost in Uttar Pradesh. In yet another shocking news, a class 11 student was set on fire by her harasser. The incident took place in Aligarh district on Monday.

Family of the victim alleged that girl was brunt by the family members of the man who had earlier tried to molest her. Girl had resisted molestation bid. On the complaint of girl's family, man was sent to jail.

Girl was set on fire when her parents were not at home. It was done to settle the score, victim's family alleged. The elder sister and younger brother of the victim were on the first floor and suddenly heard their sister crying for help.

Police officials who are investigating the case said that severely burnt girl is battling with life in the trauma centre. Owing to her critical condition, the magistrate could not record her statement, one of the officials said.

Police is investigating the incident and examining if the girl attempted suicide in wake of possible threats by the man's family.
