UP: Mob torches police outpost, attacks cops

Deoria (UP), Aug 29: Irate protesters allegedly attacked police personnel and torched a police outpost following death of a youth in a road accident in Rampur Karkhana area.

Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said 15 persons have been arrested for yesterday's violence.

A case was lodged against 300 people, including 37 who have been named. Vinay Dubey (30) was hit by a jeep three days ago and was admitted to Gorakhpur hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday, police said today.

Around 300 people torched Maduwahdeeh police outpost and assaulted the personnel yesterday as police were unable to trace to driver involved in the mishap.

Kumar said heavy force was deployed in the area and the situation was under control. Efforts were being made to arrest others involved in the violence, he said.
