UP Madarsas will now teach using NCERT books

The deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Monday said,''After approval from the state government, Uttar Pradesh Madrasa board has started preparations to teach students from NCERT books.''

Science and maths have been made mandatory from a high-school level in all schools.

Earlier, the state government had launched a portal of the UP Madrasa Board in August for online registration of all Islamic institutions to check irregularities in madrasas. All the madrasas were expected to post details of teachers and other employees within their building and class measurements as well as photographs.

There are around 16,000 madrasas in the state, of which 560 are fully aided. However, despite two deadline extensions, 2,682 madrasas have not yet furnished their details on the website.
