UP Govt Hiding Number Of Deaths In Kumbh Stampede: Akhilesh Yadav Ahead Of Budget

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Uttar Pradesh government of hiding the data on deaths in the Kumbh Mela stampede on Thursday.

Yadav's Big Allegations

Kumbh Stampede

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, Yadav said that the Uttar Pradesh government does not want to pay compensation to the victims' families, which is why the data is being hidden.

Yadav said, "Budget will be discussed later, in this session and today - we need to talk about peace for those who lost their lives in Kumbh. The second thing is that the Uttar Pradesh CM has been morally gone, now the question is when will he be gone politically? The govt is hiding the number of people who died in Kumbh as they don't want to pay the compensation.

The families of the deceased must be informed at the earliest and a list of all those who lost their lives should be made public... It's the government's mistake. It's still hiding things..."

The Kumbh Stampede

The Maha Kumbh at Triveni Sangam claimed at least 30 lives and left 60 others injured. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Mauni Amavasya, one of the most sacred days of the mela, as millions of devotees gathered to take a holy dip.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased, offering support to those affected by the tragedy.

2 Stampede On Same Day? However, not one but two stampede occurred on the same day. Some reports indicate that a second stampede occurred just hours later at Jhusi, along a ghat approximately three kilometers from the main Sangam site.

Seven more people lost their lives in this incident, Kalpvasi police station circle officer Rudra Kumar Singh told Hindustan Times.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to both incidents, as the state government and rescue teams work to manage the situation and provide aid to the injured.
