Uttar Pradesh Government Extends Financial Support to Family of Slain Dalit Teacher in Amethi
The Uttar Pradesh government has extended financial aid of Rs 38 lakh to the family of a Dalit teacher who was tragically killed along with his wife and two daughters in Amethi. State officials confirmed that the assistance includes Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund, a cheque for Rs 33 lakh, a house under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme, and a five-bigha plot of land.

State Minister Rakesh Sachan, responsible for Raebareli district, personally delivered the financial support to the grieving family. He was accompanied by Unchahar MLA Manoj Pandey. During their visit, they assured the family of the government's commitment to justice and support. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is closely monitoring the situation and has directed authorities to ensure the family's safety and well-being.
Government's Response and Support
Several officials, including District Magistrate Harshita Mathur and Superintendent of Police Yashveer Singh, were present during the meeting with the bereaved family. Additional District Magistrate Siddharth, Sub-District Magistrate Siddharth Chaudhary, and Social Welfare Officer Srishti Awasthi also attended. The presence of these officials underscores the government's dedication to addressing this tragic incident.
Sunil Kumar, aged 35, was a government school teacher. He was killed alongside his 32-year-old wife Poonam and their daughters Drishti and Suni, aged six and one respectively. The incident occurred in Amethi's Ahorwa Bhawani area on Thursday. The murder suspect, Chandan Verma, aged 27, was apprehended near a toll plaza in Noida on Friday night as he attempted to flee to Delhi.
Arrest of Suspect
The police managed to arrest Verma after a chase. During the arrest early Saturday morning, Verma sustained a gunshot wound to his leg while authorities were recovering the weapon used in the crime based on his information. This swift action by law enforcement highlights their commitment to resolving this case promptly.
The tragic loss of Sunil Kumar and his family has drawn significant attention from both local authorities and state leaders. The government's response aims to provide immediate relief and long-term support to those affected by this heartbreaking event.
