UP elections: Rahul, Akhilesh take on Modi at joint rally in Meerut
Meerut, Feb 7: With the first phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections less than a week away, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav held a joint rally on Tuesday at Meerut.

Hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 'SCAM' jibe, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh said,''I wonder why PM included Mayawati's name in 'SCAM', They have allied thrice to form govt. in UP''. He further said that Mayawati celebrated Raksha Bandhan with BJP three times and that UP will not forget that.
Hailing the Congress-SP tie-up, Congress vice-president said, ''Modi ji se hum kehna chaahte hain, UP ek saath khada hai, isay toda nahi ja sakta hai (I want to tell something to Modiji that UP .'' He further said, ''We want UP to be the food factory of the world & help small businesses.''
Striking a note of communal unity, Rahul said, "Let us give Modiji a clear message that UP is a land of love with no place for him to spread hatred. Our alliance will work for all, particularly poor, youth and women in the state."
