UP election: Here is what SCAM means according to leaders
Political parties and the Twitterati alike were quick to react to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s definition of the word, and here is a tongue-in-cheek look
In Uttar Pradesh almost all leaders have something to say about the word SCAM. The campaign has hit a feverish pitch and as polling day arrives for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2017, leaders are sparing no efforts to draw in the votes.
It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who went on to define at a recent rally what SCAM stood for. He said SCAM stands for the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. He was taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party-Congress combine which is fighting the UP elections together.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi too responded in quick time to Modi's SCAM jibe. He said SCAM stands for Seva, Courage, Ability and Modesty. Of course many on Twitter reacted sharply to this acronym. Smriti Irani of the BJP was quick to tweet, "Today for the first time, a Congress leader saw not one but four virtues in the word SCAM." She added "Seva seen in its true (Congress) avatar when AgustaWestland paid hefty bribes to one family and their loyalists."
