UP - Constable killed in celebratory firing

Mainpuri (UP), Mar 7: A policeman was killed in celebratory firing during his daughter's wedding ceremony in Bhogaon area here, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday when constable Rajendra Singh (45) was at his daughter's marriage function and a bullet hit him during celebratory firing, they said, adding that he was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment.

Superintendent of Police Humanshu Kumar said Singh was posted in Badaun district and had come home for the wedding. No arrests have been made so far in this regard. An investigation is underway, the SP said.
