UP CM Yogi Adityanath Awards Rs 297 Crore Scholarship to 10 Lakh Students

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath distributed Rs 297.95 crore in scholarships to over 1 million students, emphasising education's impact on nation-building and inclusivity.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently highlighted the transformative power of education in nation-building, drawing inspiration from Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. At a Lucknow event, he transferred scholarships to students under the Post-Matric and Pre-Matric Scholarship Program. The chief minister's office reported that Rs 297.95 crore was distributed to 10,28,205 students.

Adityanath noted a significant increase in scholarship eligibility, with numbers rising from 4.6 million in 2016-17 to 6.2 million today. He emphasised that these scholarships aim to channel students' energy towards societal and national betterment. "It is our resolve that we will not allow the future of any student, especially those from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, to be compromised," he added.

Empowering Students Through Education

The chief minister congratulated students and their families on receiving support before Diwali, wishing them success. He recalled Baba Saheb's belief that education leads to self-reliance and societal contribution. Reflecting on Baba Saheb's school challenges, Adityanath stated that financial constraints are no longer an issue due to government initiatives ensuring access to services for deserving individuals.

He praised the 'Abhyudaya Coaching' initiative for providing excellent platforms across districts. Over the past 11 years, such schemes have benefited both the country and state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. "250 million people in the country have been given the opportunity to live a normal life after rising above the poverty line, and 60 million people in Uttar Pradesh have been lifted above the poverty line," Adityanath stated.

Ensuring Transparency and Timely Assistance

The chief minister affirmed that this program aims to encourage promising students in the state and remove any hurdles in their education."This double engine is a new link in the education-empowerment campaign being run by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

Adityanath pointed out improvements in scholarship disbursement processes due to technology-based DBT systems introduced by Prime Minister Modi. This system ensures funds reach eligible students directly without delays or corruption. Scholarships will now be distributed twice yearly (October and January), offering timely assistance.

Commitment to Inclusive Education

Presenting class-wise scholarship statistics reinforced transparency as a governance hallmark. The DBT system exemplifies this commitment by ensuring no deserving student misses out on scholarships. A portal has been reactivated for those who missed last year's scholarships due to institutional negligence or portal errors; they will receive funds through DBT once data entry concludes.

The chief minister stressed his government's dedication to ensuring every child accesses education rights. He encouraged Scheduled Castes and Tribes students to attend school diligently, nurturing their natural talents towards realising Baba Saheb's dream.

During this event, Adityanath also awarded scholarship certificates on stage to selected students, further motivating them towards academic excellence.
