UP CM Yogi Adityanath Announces To Rename Mustafabad Station As Kabirdham

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to propose renaming Mustafabad village in Lakhimpur Kheri district to 'Kabirdham'. He stated this change aims to restore the area's historical and cultural identity linked with Sant Kabir. This decision aligns with previous efforts by his government to revert names altered by past rulers.

During the "Smriti Mahotsav Mela 2025", Adityanath highlighted that funds are now being allocated to revive sites of religious and cultural significance. He contrasted this with previous administrations, which he claimed focused on constructing boundary walls for graveyards.

Restoring Historical Names

The Chief Minister criticised the opposition, labelling the practice of changing place names under secularism as "hypocrisy". He declared that the era of erasing heritage under the guise of secularism has concluded. The renaming initiative is part of a broader effort to honour historical figures and traditions.

Adityanath expressed surprise upon learning that Mustafabad was named despite having no Muslim residents. He recounted asking about the village's name and being informed there were no Muslims living there. Consequently, he suggested renaming it Kabirdham to reflect its cultural roots.

Honouring Sant Kabir's Legacy

The Chief Minister assured that his administration would formally propose the name change and undertake necessary administrative actions. "We will bring the proposal and take it forward. This is about restoring the honour of a place associated with Sant Kabir's legacy," he stated.

He compared this initiative with other renaming efforts by his government, such as reverting Ayodhya from Faizabad and Prayagraj from Allahabad. Adityanath emphasised that these actions aim to restore original names and preserve cultural heritage.

Cultural Rejuvenation Projects

The Bharatiya Janata Party's "double-engine government" is committed to developing places of faith across Uttar Pradesh, according to Adityanath. He mentioned plans for beautifying pilgrimage sites and providing facilities like rest houses for devotees through tourism and culture departments.

Adityanath noted that public funds are now directed towards cultural rejuvenation projects instead of constructing graveyard walls. "Earlier, this money used to go for constructing boundary walls of 'kabristan'. Now it is being used to develop our centres of faith and heritage," he remarked.

The Chief Minister asserted that these efforts reflect cultural pride and continuity, aiming to restore India's spiritual roots.
