UP: Bride Slaps Drunk Groom, Calls Off Wedding After He Garlands Her Best Friend
A wedding in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, descended into chaos after the groom arrived intoxicated and mistakenly garlanded the bride's best friend.
The bride, 21-year-old Radha Devi, reacted by slapping the groom, calling off the wedding, and walking away.

However, this was just the beginning of the drama that unfolded on Saturday.
The trouble started when the groom, 26-year-old Ravindra Kumar, arrived late at the venue with his baraat (wedding procession).
According to the FIR lodged by the bride's family, the groom's relatives demanded additional dowry.
The bride's father stated that he had already given ₹2.5 lakh during pre-wedding rituals and an additional ₹2 lakh on the morning of the wedding, but the groom's family was still unsatisfied.
Another version of events suggests that Ravindra Kumar wished to marry someone else.
Allegedly intoxicated upon arrival, he behaved inappropriately towards the bride's family and guests. By the time the varmala (garland exchange) ceremony began, he had been drinking heavily with his friends, as per the FIR.
Instead of placing the garland on his bride, he mistakenly threw it on her best friend standing beside her. Outraged, Radha Devi immediately slapped him and left.
This led to a heated altercation between the two families, escalating into a brawl where chairs were thrown.
Eventually, the police intervened and took control of the situation, sending the groom and his wedding party away.
The police detained the groom and his friends, registering a case against them for insulting the bride's family and "disturbing the peace." Additionally, a case was filed against the groom for demanding dowry.
The groom's friends had allegedly purchased illicit liquor and supplied it to him. One individual has been arrested for selling the alcohol.
