UP: 18-year-old raped, murdered in Muzaffarnagar

A 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered at Phugana village in UP's Muzaffarnagar, police said today.

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Dec 8: A 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered at Phugana village in UP's Muzaffarnagar, police said today.

"The victim was missing since yesterday evening. Following a complaint by family members the police launched a search operation and today found her body in a sugarcane field," they said.

Family members in another complaint alleged that unidentified persons raped and murdered her by slitting her throat, police said. The body has been sent for postmortem and security has been tightened in the village to thwart any untoward incidents, police added.
