True, that the 'dream' has, to some extent, been backed by the GSI, it is just a matter of time before we realise whether it is really Gold that we strike or just another show of religious bigotry.

5:26 pm: Congress supports the digging by the ASI. Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said,"There is no harm if the country benefits from it."

4:00 pm: ASI Director Syyed Jamal Hussain defends the gold hunt, saying it has strong basis of surface findings.

3:45 pm: Modi lashes out at the Congress for hunting for Gold and wasting people's money on the basis of a 'dream'.

3:30 pm: People cannot contain their excitement as they flock the area to watch the ASI in action. Meanwhile, ASI has started rigorous digging with simple tools.

2:10 pm: Snubbing the local seer's claim of deploying Army for a speedy process, the Centre has refused to invest in the security of the mission.

12:30 pm: Vijay Kiran Anand, the DM of Unnao confirms sending a 10 member team from ASI. He further confirmed that the excavation work has begun and will be recorded on camera for the entire stretch of 45 days. The Unnao DM assures that the ASI team will be given security till the excavation work is over.

12:10 pm: The excavations began amid religious chanting, while people watch. The seer Sobhan Sarkar along with his followers chant vedic mantras.
