Unnao hits gold in a 'dream', ASI excavates

(UP), Oct 18: The nondescript village of Duandia Khera has become popular overnight as a sadhu--Shobhan Sarkar--dreamt of a buried treasure under the Unnao fort of Raja Ram Bux Singh. The minister then convinced a team of ASI, who are set to begin the digging today. While this is just one part of the story, the other part relates how the imagination of the villagers are being fanned by local sants. Sant Om ji Maharaj, for instance, said,"There is a huge amount of gold buried under the fort. I believe we will find more treasure than we have space for in Unnao." Following this, the villagers have already started discussing how they would put all that wealth to use.

"If we find treasure then Raja Bux Singh's name should be added to Daundia Kheda village and an airstrip should be opened in this village," said the village headman Ajay Pal.

Even the Unnao DM VK Anand, somewhat, seems confident as he said,"We had been given proposal by the gram sabha. They think gold is buried there."

Gold or no gold, the village has shot to fame within 24 hours, drawing tourists from across the world. To avoid any uncontrollable situation, the authorities have beefed up security in the area.
