Assistant Professor Found Dead with Knife Marks in Moradabad

The body of a 27-year-old assistant professor was discovered with knife wounds on the neck at a private university on Monday, according to police reports. The deceased, Dr. Aditi Mehrotra, worked in the pathology department at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) on Delhi Road.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. Superintendent of Police City Akhilesh Bhadoria stated, "Initial investigation suggests that it is a case of suicide but the actual reason of the death can only be confirmed after the post-mortem."

Forensic Evidence Collection

The forensic team is currently gathering evidence from the location. Bhadoria mentioned that the body was sent for post-mortem and Mehrotra's family was informed about her death. The family, residing in Haryana's Rewari district, reached Moradabad upon hearing the news.

Dr. Navneet Mehrotra, Aditi's father, shared that he had tried calling her last night but received no response. "She neither received the call nor called me back," he said. This has added to the family's distress as they await further details from the investigation.

Background and Initial Findings

Mehrotra had joined TMU on June 16 this year and had been staying at the guest house on campus since then. Police noted that she was found dead in one of the rooms in this guest house. Senior Superintendent of Police Satpal Antil also visited the scene to oversee the investigation.

Officials have indicated that further investigation into the matter is ongoing. The police are working to piece together what led to this tragic incident while awaiting results from the post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
