United Naga Council agrees to lift economic blockade of Manipur
The first two rounds of the talks were held on February 4 and February 7 but no headway was made as the UNC had refused to the formation of seven new districts.
Imphal, March 19: The economic blockade of Manipur imposed by the United Naga Council will be lifted from midnight Sunday, it was announced here.

Lifting of indefinite economic blockade was resolved in a tripartite talk, involving United Naga Council, Government of India and Manipur government in Senapati, Manipur.
This followed an agreement reached during talks involving the Naga group and representatives of the central and Manipur governments.
One term of the agreement was that there would be "unconditional release of the arrested UNC leaders and all cases related to the economic blockade against the Naga tribe leaders and the student leaders will be closed."
The first two rounds of the talks were held on February 4 and February 7 but no headway was made as the UNC had refused to the formation of seven new districts. The blockade was imposed on November 1, causing widespread shortages in Manipur.
