Union Minister Parshottam Rupala Rescued After Boat Gets Stuck in Chilika Lake

Union Minister Parshottam Rupalas boat got stuck in Odishas Chilika Lake for two hours due to fishing nets. He was rescued and taken to his destination.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, faced an unexpected delay during his journey in Odisha's Chilika Lake on Sunday evening. The boat carrying the minister got stuck for approximately two hours due to fishing nets laid in the waters, according to an official.

Rescue and Assistance

Despite the inconvenience, the administration promptly dispatched another vessel from Satapada to rescue the minister and his associates. Rupala, accompanied by BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and local party leaders, safely reached their destination with the help of the rescue vessel.

Journey Interrupted

The incident occurred as the minister embarked on a journey from Balugaon in Khurda district, heading towards Satapada in Puri district through the scenic Chilika Lake. However, the motorized boat encountered difficulties near the Nalabana bird sanctuary, where it became entangled in a fishing net.

Program Rescheduled

Due to the unexpected delay, Rupala was unable to attend a scheduled program near Krushnaprasad area in Puri district. The event was subsequently canceled at the last moment. The minister eventually arrived in Puri around 10:30 pm.

Sagar Parikrama and Upcoming Engagements

Rupala's visit to Odisha is part of the 11th phase of the Sagar Parikrama program, where he interacts with fishermen and engages in discussions related to their welfare. Earlier in the day, he launched the program at Gopalpur harbor in Ganjam district. Additionally, Rupala, along with Ports, Shipping & Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, is set to lay the foundation for a project aimed at modernizing and upgrading the Paradip fishing harbor on Monday.
