Unified Ticketing Platform for All Zoos in Himachal Pradesh to Enhance Visitor Experience

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced plans for a unified ticketing system for all zoos in Himachal Pradesh. This initiative aims to simplify the tourist experience and boost revenue, which will be invested in wildlife conservation, infrastructure, and welfare. Unified ticketing allows integrated tickets usable across multiple modes, enhancing convenience for visitors.

New Unified Ticketing for Himachal Zoos

During the 73rd Wildlife Week's closing ceremony in Shimla, Sukhu revealed the designation of Spiti's Sarchu Valley as a Conservation Reserve. This move seeks to protect its delicate ecosystem and wildlife corridors. Additionally, he adopted a Himalayan monal bird at a zoo, encouraging others to adopt wildlife species in the state's zoos and parks.

Conservation Efforts and Wildlife Protection

Sukhu emphasised that adopting animals aids in their care and fosters a deeper understanding of nature preservation. He stated, "Our state's natural beauty, dense forests, snow-covered Himalayan peaks, and precious wildlife are not just our heritage but our lifeline." Protecting these resources is crucial for future generations.

The Chief Minister announced forming an expert committee to study pheasant species conservation. The goal is to develop a strategy ensuring these birds' survival for future generations. Himachal Pradesh is home to rare species like the snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, and both black and brown bears.

Addressing Environmental Challenges

Sukhu addressed concerns about forest fires, stating that the government is actively working on prevention measures. He also stressed the importance of combating illegal poaching and keeping forests pollution-free. These efforts are part of broader climate adaptation and conservation programs aimed at safeguarding the state's forests and wildlife.

The government is promoting eco-tourism by developing an international-standard zoo in Dehra with an estimated budget of Rs. 680 crore. The first phase of this project is expected to be completed by June 2025, which will further enhance tourism in the region.

These initiatives reflect a commitment to preserving Himachal Pradesh's natural heritage while boosting tourism and ensuring sustainable development for future generations.
